Some basic questions about money and happiness were answered here.
We are happier when we spend money to get some experience rather than buying stuff.
The relationship between money and happiness is very simple and very complex as well.
It’s very hard to simplify money and happiness at the same time. Two different genres and their impact on people’s lives.
It has been a hot point among economists, psychologists, and also philosophers. Even scientists have not been able to stay away from this issue.
A lot of research demonstrates things that are seeming very contradicting to conclude.
If we are ready to see the big picture, then we understand it better.
How much of our happiness is driven by money?
If someone is struggling to meet their basic needs (food, shelter, and clothing), then money can bring happiness to them. And the intensity of this happiness is quite high.
In this case, we can proudly say that Money can buy happiness.
Once a person’s basic needs are ensured after that starts the dark time for them. Why do I say dark? Because now the person’s fancy desires come into play.
I assume education, healthcare, and nutrition as basic needs as well.
However, money gives you control over some factors in life which are very meaningful to us.
More money provides control over negative life events and your day-to-day problems.
Having more money is like a privilege, and they have an edge over those who don’t have much money.
I don’t disrespect anyone who earns less money and I neither judge them, but this is the bitter pill to swallow.
And it’s not today’s reality, it’s since the history of money.
After all, it’s money that feeds you and your family and decides the quality of your life. Isn’t it?
And before we become a philosopher, we must create that kind of wealth so that we don’t have to worry about money later in life.
What research says?
Happiness increases when money increases. According to research, some say that $75,000 per annum, and others say $200,000 per annum happiness grows up to.
Although this is research and these stats refer to a certain amount of people and their emotions attached to money.
The emotional well-being of people also plays a significant role in between money and happiness.
Research shows a very superficial image of the relationship between money and happiness, it doesn’t clarify the picture.
The clear picture :
If we want to know something interesting, then we must be interested in it.
Knowing the impact of money on our happiness is not rocket science, it’s why we need money, and what we do with that money.
It’s not just about how much money you have, but also how you get that.
Here I’m not giving you an investing strategy, I’m approaching the very conscious way of living with money.
Once we have that much money which fulfills our basic needs (and you know the basic needs very well), we have to become super cautious about our money.
Again I’m not saying you don’t enjoy your money. It’s your money you have the right to spend what you like to do.
Doing something interesting can bring us more joy than having materialistic things.
When we achieve a certain amount of comfort that money gives us this is the time when most of us drown in money.
Again I believe that you control your money, not your money controls you. This is the only way to get rich in life.
When you have total control of your money then you feel happiness is increasing because only then you can enjoy money properly.
And there is a very famous saying that
If you’re not happy with the money
You simply don’t know
Where to shop?
Yes, because if you’re miserable, even more money can’t help you.
And The most important thing for me is, until you clear things up for yourself, till then you will be a part of these never-ending problems.
Knowing how much money is enough for me is far better than having lots of money.
Your neighbor’s money will hurt you, you compare yourself to others, and your money will always cost you less. Isn’t It?
But the good news is you are only one decision away from dominating this stuff and making your life blissful.
What matters to me? What makes me happy? And how can I be in total control of it?
These are some questions you must ask yourself for ultimate clarity.
Final thoughts :
As I mentioned earlier Money and Happiness have a very complex relationship.
Financial stability and access to resources are important factors in overall well-being.
True happiness comes with money and beyond money such as personal growth, having a purpose, and social connections as well.
Embracing the fact that money is a means or tool, not the end allows us to make our life full of fulfillment, and have a great balance between work and life.
Humans by nature are very adaptable creatures to the evolution of humanity. That’s why they are not satisfied in the long run.
Getting bored with the things that we acquire is a deeply human trait.
That’s why prehistoric men moved to begin building a civilization from their cave.
